Eve Heller's films are characterised by a fleetingness that you want to hold on to, that constantly lets your gaze slip away - similar to the clear yet fragmented images of a dream. Shimmering light, multiple exposures, the grain of the emulsion (greatly magnified by the optical printer), and sometimes slowed down movements emphasise this effect.

When Heller works with found footage, she not only exposes latent contents of the original dramaturgy (Last Lost), she also creates completely new poetic associative spaces (Her Glacial Speed), and sometimes humorously (Ruby Skin). The deeper interpretations are delivered "en passant".

Eve Heller was born in the USA in 1961 and studied in Buffalo and at New York University. As the child of an Austrian father, who had to emigrate from the Nazis in 1938, and a German mother, she grew up bilingual and studied German literature as well as film. She earned her Master of Fine Arts at the renowned Bard College.
