Gold trifft Grill
Karø Goldt's work complex, minimalist in its formal language, radiates maximum intensity precisely in the reduction of the artistic formal means of expression used. Through cleverly placed cuts and framing, her works have an enormous luminosity. Despite the fact that Goldt's paintings are usually subjected to an extreme process of abstraction, they have an almost palpable materiality. This materiality is underscored by the sound of the duo rashim, which is underlaid with film. (ML)
Once, in the early years of cinema, the new medium was given a lyrical term: electric shadows. A century later, the species of moving images still more or less lives up to this definition, despite all the technological mutations. Michaela Grill's videos, created in cooperation with musicians from the electronic scene, are a good example of this: a work of shadows and schemes, a reinvention of electronic cinema as abstract painting.
