For years, abstract films and videos from Austria have been causing a sensation at international festivals. Located at the interface between music and moving image, these films are mostly characterized by digital animation, the reduction to small but all the more striking graphic elements, but in any case by a preference for abstract motifs. As synaesthetic experiences with an equal value of image and sound, these cinematic works stand in the long tradition of "visual music", as it has existed since the beginnings of the film avant-garde from the 1920s onwards. OPTRONICS brings together a number of current videos and films that are particularly captivating in their formal minimalism. A feast for the eyes and ears!
