RECYCLED CINEMA

The name of our retrospective - Recycled Cinema - is more than a poetic or ecological attribution. Found footage filmmakers breathe new life into an existing body of footage, bringing together commercial products and underground cinema, the popular and the obscure, industry and art, fiction and documentary. Found footage practice transforms an industrial medium into a universe of aesthetic possibilities - waste becomes art.
