In Between

Two films - the same subject - two completely contrasting approaches.

1/2 Frogs Fuck Fast was created at a time when pornography was neither chic nor hip and, from today's perspective, can be described as post-punk porn. As a gesture of freedom, Scheirl designs and shows her own queer cosmos, in which identity-forming concepts are not only blurred, but sexual practices are also vividly depicted as an alternative to heteronormative, patriarchal sign systems.

In her intimate documentary in between, Rikke Kutzenberger follows the two protagonists Si-Phi and Gina/George, who don't really want to fit into the classic male/female roles. The director's approach is based on both a personal, familial perspective and a kind of analytical curiosity. She succeeds in creating an impressive and optimistic portrait of alternative lifestyles, which stands out pleasantly from the conventional problem films that are often attached to the subject of transgender.
