Relative swingings
A model experiment to analyse the relativity of movement seen on screen. It was conceived for two film strips, two projectors displayed simultaneously–as a kind of expanded cinema.
The film exposes the relations between the camera and the lightcone whose perspectives are unpredictable and would otherwise be elusive to the human eye. The situation was shot with two cameras: one was a subjective, moving eye, and the other was a second, stationary camera that documented the total situations. The documentary shots appear at the end of the movement recorded by the active camera for 10-second periods as an explanation to the situation.
Following the production rules of the Balázs Béla Studio, the two 16mm filmstrips were copied side by side on a 35mm film. (D.M.)
