Childen painting
Perhaps the most cheerful of Ernst Schmidt Jr.'s documentaries on art happenings and Materialaktionen: rapid montage and wayward blurring show the little artists at work and the results of their painterly efforts. A composition of smiling faces, colourful jumpers and even more colourful paintings. Again and again, the brushes and paint pots (among them, as if it were a parody of Viennese art scene folklore: beer mugs and champagne bottles repurposed as washout containers). And again and again, the film title, which at the beginning, in an expressive correspondence to the programmatic statement made in the title, a child paints in blue and yellow on a white sheet of paper.
