Helicopter Bird

Four left-right pans. The first shows a helicopter flying in the direction of the pan, the other shots show something similar with white birds (seagulls? pigeons?) in a park. As so often, Ernst Schmidt Jr.'s montage draws a comparison that reality has already paved the way for, echoing one of his recurring motifs: the inescapable penetration of everyday life by technical artefacts. The helicopter is the template, the category, the model according to – and after – which the birds are seen. (Drehli Robnik)
