The Falls

THE FALLS was made with stock footage, a Technicolor Hollywood film. I wanted to further explore schemata and techniques I had developed in THE TREE but using sync sound footage. Needless to say, the audio greatly informed the decision making. The source was the movie that created a goddess and is her only good color film. The image for Andy Warhol´s iconic portrait is a still from the souvenir shop scene at the center here. The actual work done by the editor of the original film in shaping the scenes from the various shots blocked out by the cinematographer gave me lots of structural clues for the fugal sections where I collapse time by making all of the shots simultaneous. This film is still revealing itself to me. It doesn´t have a happy ending. (Henry Hills)
