Twisted Eyes – 2nd Video Version
Two men threaten a woman.
In the found-footage construction Twisted Eyes (originally a 16mm film, 11:30 min., b&w, silent, 2002) we see two observers who observe each other while being observed by a third observer, who in turn is being observed by the first two observers. The observation turns increasingly obtrusive, and ultimately threatening.
Video Version-2 is a negative-image conversion, tinted red. In contrast to the blue-tinted realistic first version, this made a little manipulation by means of editing necessary, and the conclusion with the dark forest was abandoned completely. As a result the lead actress final gaze is defined as a look into emptiness.
The ghostly atmosphere of the second video version is intensified by a crackling-fire soundtrack.
(Dietmar Brehm)
Artist Dietmar Brehm of Linz, remaining true to the obsessions he has cultivated over decades, shows in classic found-footage style optically altered clips from old porn movies. Turned-up Eyes is not a "best of" compilation of sex scenes; on the contrary, it represents a disturbing montage of glances and gestures charged with implicit lust.
